Yeah...
So this blog has been majorly extinct for the best part of 3 months. However, no worries; I have not been slacking, just busy with location changes and the like.
Anyways, the plan is for me to make a new blog with a couple of my new university friends. The ideas are flowing and with this particular blog we look to be covering predominantly music.

Beyonce, fake?
IF YOU'RE A BEYONCE FAN, LOOK AWAY NOW
...just kidding, stay on my blog.
But yes, Beyonce is about to get diddum'd! After almost getting knocked down by some crazy driver in the UK, it has recently been revealed that Beyonce doesn't write her songs, but instead just pays for the credit. CHEEKY! Producer, Bangladesh, who wrote and produced the songs “Video Phone” and “Diva” from the singer’s “I Am… Sasha Fierce” CD did a lengthy interview with Bossip.com where he revealed :
Not that I'm too shocked by all of this. Always had that feeling...
“It doesn’t matter who’s writing the songs, or who’s producing the songs. It’s who’s delivering the mother fu*ker. It really doesn’t matter if Beyonce is actually sitting there physically writing the song. Even if she’s not, it don’t mean she can’t. She might not have the time. It doesn’t matter, because you can work with artists who write, or work with artists that’s Beyonce’s level… For me… It doesn’t matter. The people outside looking in, they wanna know if she writes her own songs or if she ain’t. At the end of the day, she’s on a level where things are handed to her; people wanna be a part of what she’s doing. She either wrote it, or she can put her name on it – it doesn’t matter because that’s the boss you are.”What do you think about Beyonce and her now public antics?

Wale - Workin
New ish from Wale called Wale. Not sure whether it's going to be on his latest mixtape, but a good addition to iTunes nevertheless.

Tinchy Stryder - In My System
First heard wind of this now trademark electro-pop-Tinchy tune a couple of weeks ago, but I thought to suspend the tension until I saw the video. I must say I like it, filmed in beautiful Barbados. It's probably also the first single off of 'Third Strike' too and a number ripe for the summer season (even though it rained yesterday, did you see that?!)

Artist Spotlight: Francis & The Lights
With a front man named Francis Farewell Starlite (don't believe me, check the proof), this NY based band is immediately bound to rotate a couple neck muscles. Francis & The Lights, as they're collectively known, do however produce a musically attractive hybrid which I've had trouble classifying. Somewhere in the midst of their intriguing electronic bubbles and melodic guitar riffs lies a similarity to David Bowie, Kings Of Leon and a subtle nod at Prince - would I be pushing it?! But, yeah, I'm loving their music right now.
Whaddya think?

The Roots - How I Got Over
There's always an air of optimistic anticipation when the likes of The Roots are due to release an album. The hip-hop supergroup are due to release their 9th studio album How I Got Over to reinstate their position as worthy urban royals, as well as banish claims that the group have sold out following their stint as Jimmy Fallon's house band.
On this album The Roots collaborate with an eclectic range of artists, including Joanna Newsom, John Legend and even Monsters of Folk. It's interesting to see how they adapt and manipulate their sound, shifting away from their usual funk and soul - however I think it works.
Here's a couple of tunes to tickle the ear drums.

Destiny's Child Beef?
“Obviously the world likes a feud because the world likes a little tension. As far as Beyonce and I are concerned, we came from a group. It’s cliché that girl groups don’t get along and they hate each other; the press would love for us to fight and bicker and bite each other’s heads off “, said Rowland.
With a new single on the way, reigniting the rumors could be seen as a blessing in disguise for Kelly Rowland who has seen sales from her previous albums dip substantially over the course of her career and could be looking for a way to pick up things up. Her third solo studio album will be released in September according to reports.

Aks Is Back
After a lengthy one year hiatus, grime's Axe Man, newly reincarnated as Young Aks, has jumped back in the booth for a quick freestyle; a little taster off of the soon-to-come 'Sugar House Lane' mixtape. Aptly named after the studio where the magic happens [no MTV Cribs pun intended] and now under the 'Blatant Swagger' label run by none other than 'Wearing My Rolex' producer Bless Beats, you can expect more from the East London native. Watch this space [and video].

Taio Cruz - Dynamite
Never really been a fan of Taio Cruz's music; tacky yuckness. Yet, that describes a lot of music these days (let's not get into that) but.... *cue exaggerated screams of shock* his latest few tracks have surprisingly got me. Yeah, the man likes his club bangers, go figure; but his latest batch in the lead up to his soon released album Rokstarr have definitely been pumped with some steroids or something. Check out his myspace for his latest single, Dynamite. Say no more.

Is this the first grime election?
Call this a massive retweet...
Not all politicians are tough on grime, tough on the causes of grime. In fact, some of them are making hopeless attempts to be down with the kids
It's normal for politicians to try and gain some cred by talking about music (who can forget Gordon Brown expressing admiration for Arctic Monkeys – aka The Day Indie Died?). But you don't really expect them to be getting down with grime artists.
That changed last week, when Nu Brand Flexx performed in front of Paxman on Newsnight with a "campaign song" for the Tories. The Conservative Party responded to these "great" beats by apparently inviting them along to play last-minute gigs in the marginals. God, politicians are cool. Or at least I think that's the point.
Not that this is the first time that grime has been used as a buzzword for politicians to convince us of their integrity on the streets; who remembers Lib Dem MP Norman Lamb last year assuring us that he was "living the grime scene" and the even more amazing fact that he could back up his words with actions (Lamb helped fundTinchy Stryder's career, through his son's record label).
More recently, John Whittingale's involvement in resolving Form 696 earned him the moniker "The Tory MP that saved grime". And, of course, there was Paxman himself asking Dizzee Rascal if he'd ever consider running for office.
But is grime really a ticket for politicians to get in with "the youth"? Hardly. In fact, assuming artists are just pawns used in a game of chess by those in power is to do them a disservice. Tomorrow's general election has spurred social commentary from noted grime bloggers like Hyperfrank, while hip-hop DJ Semtex has been tweeting on the importance of reading each party's manifesto and giving them all a fair hearing. A comedic mention must also go to grime fans blogging in support of "Liberal man Dem", a play on words that subverts the names of grime crews in support of the Lib Dems. One of the funnier vandalised Conservative election posters dong the rounds bears the caption: "David-Next Taxxx!", alluding to Tempa T's Next Hype.
Last week, Lethal Bizzle ended up riling the BNP with his tweets. The subsequent furore on their website saw his music described as a "collection of jungle noises" – and they probably weren't talking about the genre.
The point is, these bloggers and artists are taking sides regardless of which politicians are trying to strike up friendships with them. Even Patrick from Nu Brand was quick to maintain on Newsnight that: "This wasn't something to say that we particularly supported this party, it was a musical challenge." And, in case you're wondering, you won't be seeing them performing in the marginals. Apparently, the band got so much stick for their song they turned the Tories down.

Guru In A Coma
If you know anything about old school hip-hop, you'll inevitably bow down at the mention of Gang Star, the legendary group consisting of Preemo and Guru.
You'll then be shocked to hear that MC Guru (a.k.a. Keith Elam) suffered a heart attack yesterday and is currently in a coma. According to a radio interview with Gang Starr’s DJ Premier, Guru is set to undergo surgery today at a New York hospital. Premier also stated that Guru was "fighting for his life." No other information has been released.
Get well soon!

Kanye West - Coldest Winter
KANYE WEST "Coldest Winter" Directed by: NABIL "ITUNES link below" from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.
I may be a bit late in posting, but I just had to anyways. The NEW video for Kanye West's Coldest Winter off of his 808s & Heartbreak album. Erm...what can I say; I like the concept, but these guys sure do like to fuel rumours of demonic behaviour. I'm sure its all a ploy to get more coverage, but blacked out figures capturing young women and forcing them to perish from massive heights - MADNESS!
Freaknik: The Musical
Auto-Tune master T-Pain has produced an animated homage to 1990’s Atlanta Spring Break fiesta Freaknik, which is scheduled to air on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim on March 7.
The one-hour special, ‘Freaknik: The Musical ,’ took Pain two years to create, and features vocal appearances by Lil Wayne (playing Jesus) LOOOL, Snoop Dogg, Keri Hilson, Kelis, Big Boi, Rick Ross, George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. Saturday Night Live comedians Andy Samberg and Bill Hader also feature whilst T-Pain also voices “a party ghost.”
‘Freaknik’ focuses on a group of students hoping to revive the party, which at one point attracted more than 250,000 people, until it was shut down in the late 90’s.

Drake's First Single From New Album
With a spot in the Young Money team and an increasing string of bangers, it's amazing to think Drizzy hasn't released an album yet. Well, unless you've been under an igneous rock somewhere, you'll know that his forthcoming album Thank Me Later is actually due this year.
The first single from the release will be entitled Over and is produced by Boi-1 Da (producer of Forever and Best I Ever Had).
The album will include cameos from a host of artists, including Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem,Kanye West and Young Jeezy.

Rihanna puts pen to paper for a different reason
Who ever said musicians could only slap Autotune on their tunes and make millions? How about write a book instead...and make millions?
Well R&B songstress Rihanna has done just that and is currently processing her first book by the name of 'Rihanna: The Last Girl On Earth'. The 144-page volume is due for release on June 29 and the actual theme of the book is unknown at present.

Tinchy ft. Maveric & Rapid - No Limits
Tinchy & Co. hit back with a grimey number to show he still has it in him. Maveric makes an appearance again after disappearing for a hot sec, but tune is hard still - Rapid on production, fire as usual. Just reading some of the comments, maybe he should come back with a likkle grimey mixtape for the old school fans.
